The Red King - coming to Alibi in 2024
A brand new mystery thriller production was welcomed to the region in 2023 - filming extensively across the Northumberland coastal area. Craster, Bamburgh and many other iconic Northumbrian locations were used to bring Alibi's new series 'The Red King' to life.
NE14 Casting were honoured to have supplied hundreds of local Supporting Artists to the production, playing villagers and all types of background characters, to the new crime drama.
Described as a 'Character-driven mystery-thriller, combining a powerful story of a knotty police investigation with chilling, atmospheric folk-horror through the island's eerie past devotion to a pagan God called the Red King and the cult of the True Way', the show will air in 2024 on Alibi, with talk of bringing the show to BBC later in the year.
Our amazing Supporting Artists worked tirelessly to make the eerie village come to life, all set against the stunning Northumberland coast line.
The Toby Whithouse penned tale stars Anjli Mohindra, Marc Warren, Adjoa Andoh and North East favourite Jill Halfpenny.
Davina Earl, Executive Producer, said... “We are so excited to share these characters and their stories with you. This has been a passion project for all of us. A genre-bending mystery combining drama, suspense and horror, starring some of the best actors in television. We get to showcase the North East as we create this compelling and atmospheric drama, which, as a North-Easterner, is incredibly rewarding."
